8/8/08......What a date to remember!

It's a special date on the calendar.....Aug. 8th...2008.  The Summer Olympics officially start tonight.  We are so excited to watch the opening ceremonies on TV............   in fact, we may go over to Mike's mom and dad's house  ............   they have one of those gigantic HD TV sets!  We'll see how things go...
We went on a Longhini adventure trip yesterday, to Door County, with Kim.  Since she had never been to this special place, Dom and I decided to to a "day trip" with her, while she is on break for the next two weeks.  We left bright and early at 7:30!  It's about a 4 hour drive, so we got there at about noon.  What a fantastic day it was!  We went sightseeing all over the place and checked out various stops along the way.  We ate lunch at the tip of the peninsula, but decided against the ferry boat ride to Washington Island.  It just didn't seem like a good idea, as the wind picked up and the waves were rocking and rolling!  We meandered through the small towns and made out way back to Marquette by late evening, arriving at 10:00!
Today we managed to pick some raspberries so that I can make a pie and possibly put together a raspberry crumble, with maybe some extra jam making as another option!
A pirate festival is going on in Marquette right now, so the city is hustling and bustling!  We may take in some of the festivities tomorrow.
