Girls' Weekend Out!

Well, we are all back home to our respective residences and it's back to a normal routine. Kirsti, Katrina, Kim, and I had a wonderful Girls' Weekend in Ashland, Wisconsin.  We left on Friday afternoon and got back today.... Sunday afternoon!  We did a fair amount of sightseeing in Bayfield, eating lunch at Maggie's Restaurant in that small town, shopping around the quaint stores, and gabbing our little hearts out to each other.  Yes, I am exhausted.....I don't know about the girls, but I am happily reliving all the moments of the weekend.  Thank you, girls......for the memories!  Here are some pictures that everyone may be interested in.......Here we are posing in our hotel room for a group picture!  We tried setting the camera on the desk, but this is what we got..................... which one do YOU like best?!  Then we proceeded to the card game and played "Spoons."  Guess who won?  NO, not me!  Trina is the reigning Spoon Card Champ!

Grading papers....and more papers....etc.

Okay....I know I should just give them all A's......Ha....but report cards are coming up soon and I will need to document my grades for this first term....Whew!  Time flies.....

    I am looking forward to my weekend with my girlies......we are definitely going to have some R & R ..........  DJ is tucked away back in Colorado....... I sure wish he lived closer, but then again, I know how much he loves to ski those mountain trails........wait until you see the cool pictures I have from his last visit.....the girls are going to help me post my pictures.....aren't you?   LOL    ........Love to all of you........I'm heading to bed.....after I watch the last minutes of "Dancing with the Stars"......it's a fun escape from my paperwork...........Good Night......

Wow!   Where does the time go?!!!

    I'm still grading papers tonight, so I have to make this short.  I will try to post some pictures tomorrow on the blog....I need some serious blogging lessons from my girlies this upcoming weekend.!  All is well here on the home front!

  DJ left on Friday morning.  It is always tough on me to say "good-bye" to him.  We had such a good visit!  Here's a picture of DJ, carving a pumpkin with Stella. We did a lot of neat things together......created some good memories and took a lot of pictures!

    I tried to lay low this weekend.....I have been still battling a slight cold, nothing serious.....just a hassle with a hoarse voice, etc.  So I am going to hit the sack early tonight.......Hugs to all of you!

Oct. 14th.......Tuesday

Well, good morning everyone!

   Before I head off to school, I just thought I'd drop the blog a quick note to tell you all that we are loving this fall weather.  Sandy Knoebel came over for dinner with our family last night, and we had a great visit with her.  She was anxious to see Kirsti and her kids, and also, DJ.  We just had a chicken dinner, etc.  with apple pie for dessert!  DJ and Stella romped in the newly fallen crisp leaves in the front yard, while we sat on the porch in the nearly 70 degrees and watched the fall fun.  Yes, I took some pictures and I need to get them on the blog site.  I have to get better on posting pictures.  DJ and Sandy loved checking out the blogs from you all.  Then Sandy shared her Alaska pictures with us and told us about her cruise with Mark and their friends.  Well, I'm off to the salt mines.....today is the first MEAP test day for all of the students!  Hugs to all of you!

TGIF.........

      Another Friday......and a day at a teachers' workshop!  We had a great conference day a MSHS, sponsored by MARESA.  It was a good day to see old friends and teachers from other district.

        It's a beautiful fall weekend here in the Upper Peninsula.  The trees are actually in full color and so perfect.  I do have to get the camera out and take some pictures!  Well, Dom and I are going to take Annie for a walk now....so later....love all of you!  XXXOOO

Sunday night.......Oct. 5th

Well....it was quite a nice weekend!  I am feeling better and I am on the mend.....my voice is back and I can actually talk!  That laryngitis was a tough act to play....especially  teaching my class!  So I am going to have a better week this week.......

      This morning Dom and I went to the 10:00 mass at the Cathedral .....Bishop Sample said the mass and it was just beautiful.  The mass intention was for Jim Bouchey......I slipped a post-it note to the usher so that they would pronounce Jim's last name correctly.........Boo shay' ......it worked!  Kirsti and Stella joined us in the pew and we enjoyed watching Stella...especially her reaction to seeing the Bishop UP CLOSE when Kirsti went up for communion with Stella in her arms!  I swear that Stella's eyes were as big as saucers when the Bishop gave her a special child's blessing and sign of the cross!!!! 

    This afternoon we took Annie and went for a long walk on the beach at Little Presque Isle.....it was a gorgeous fall day...the leaves are just starting to turn color!

Saturday Oct. 4th

October 3rd.....already!!!

   Well, it's Friday night and I made a whole week of work!  Laryngitis and all!  Whew!  Last night I did go into the Walking Clinic to see a doctor.  She gave me a Z-Pak.....after waiting 2 1/2 hours to see someone!  But I knew that I HAD to get some meds to kick this throat crud!  So my plan is to rest and recuperate over the weekend..........I'm sleeping in tomorrow........Yyyeeesssssss!  Watch.....I'll be wide awake at 6:00 A.M......better not be, as I'll be pissed!

      My class.....well, what can I say.....I'm almost afraid to take a day off, due to the high priority challenges I have this year.  My one student is a runaway, cry-baby, ..... in fact, he is seeing a professional on a regular basis, but is so volatile that the unpredictability is scary!  His mother has to sit along side him in class for the entire time he is in my classroom!!!!  Then there's another one who REALLY needs braces for his feet.....I'm contacting the authorities on this one, because I think this is child neglect.......etc.    You get the picture!   Twenty-five little bodies and ONE teacher.....not a good ratio.........and who says teaching is easy?!!!  HA!   

   Well, thanks for letting me whine!!!!  I'm going to hit the sack early tonight.......I HAVE to get feeling better.....this is crazy!    Hugs to all of you out there........I'm thinking of you!

Katie......can you send me via the email or call me with everyone's phone numbers......because I had everything programed in that missing cell phone....I wonder which kid...and what they did with the phone?  Because as of Friday at 5:00....that phone was permanently deactivated at the Altel office ....and this new phone (same number) works ..........it cost me $50 to replace it.........but it's more the principal of thing that bothers me......some rotten kid is out there, lurking in my classroom.  Needless to say, I keep my purse and new cell phone in my car.....locked up tight as a drum, just outside my classroom window!!!!!  or in my teacher's closet (locked like Fort Knox!)

Wednesday.......Oct. 1st.........

Well.......I have had a few rough days.....first my cell phone was stolen off my teacher's desk at school by one of the students on Friday afternoon........still no sign of it!  

      Then on Sunday, we did go for a hike on the Escanaba River for the last day of fishing, but I got chilled......thus,  I came down with the "throat crud"......so I have had laryngitis for the last couple of days!  Tell me that I'm not tough.......I can still teach in a whisper and I can still give the kids the "teacher stare down" when they are misbehaving!!!!!  I may take the next day off....we'll see how I feel in the morning....

      Then if that wasn't enough.....my Internet wasn't working on Monday.......until just now!!!!  I called Charter and they said that someone had declined my Internet service!!!  HHhhmmmm.....it's another long story, but I got it resolved and restored, so now I'm back in business....I must say....I was having blog withdrawal!!!!

      I have a "teacher funny" for you......I was taking the kids outside for a quick recess and one of the kids asked me......" Say, can't we have another amazing grace today" .....I was trying to figure out what he was saying, since he was sitting on the bench, doing his late math homework...then it dawned on me......he was asking for "a day of grace"....so I would let him off the hook.......No deal!   HA!
