Weekend went by too fast.....

Here it is....Sunday night already!  I did get a few sets of papers graded, but now I'm watching this "girlie" romance movie on TV.  It's a good mind escape.....Ha!
Dad and I went to 11:30 mass this morning and then we ran a few errands.  We had a late breakfast at Perkins, before we brought the car in for an oil change.  I had to have the transmission flushed and they changed the filters, etc.   Dad and I figured we'd better have the car checked and fixed before we have major trouble with it.   Thus, $160 later...we were back on the road, on our way home!  Well, the car is ready to go for any trip....at least for another 30,000 miles.  I don't think it had ever been maintained from previous owner(s)...who knows, since I've only had the car for about 6 months.
Anyway, Diana, Ragene, and I went over to Cricket's Holiday Open House....she's my friend who owns a jewelry business....."Icebox Antiques"......her whole house had jewelry in display cases throughout both floors of her house......antique hats, clothing, costume jewelry and EXPENSIVE real gems!!!  It was a good two hours of browsing and visiting with a lot of friends attending this event!  Fun time! !
The weather has been nice today....still a little on the cool side, but we do need more snow on the ground.....I hear it's coming on Wednesday!!!
    Well.....I'm thinking of you all....have a great half-a-work week!!!

Friday......Nov. 21

I've been having a great day.....I forgot to note the date on my last blog.  So far, I have baked some banana bread, cleaned out the desk drawer, cleaned the floor, did a load of wash.....yes, I'm being productive!  'thinking about all of you!

Snow Day!

Guess who's having a "snow day"........:-)   Thank goodness!  I'm sitting here, drinking my third cup of coffee and eating an Eggo........all cozied in and watching the news.  So, I thought I'd drop you all a line or two.  The sun is peeking out of the clouds and it looks so pretty on the newly fallen snow (about 12 inches).....the snow drifts are high and the snow plow has yet to come through the subdivision!
It's been crazy at school!   I had the third case of head lice discovered in my classroom on Monday......one case per day for three consecutive days!  The office FINALLY sent home a lice letter to the parents, telling them to be aware of the situation and check their kids' heads!  On Tuesday, we had a two-hour delay, due to a snow storm blowing in......Wednesday was a fairly normal day, but then yesterday.......it was storming ALL day, but we were still in session at school! The kids loved playing outside at noon during their recess.  But by 3:00, it was snowing and blowing so hard, you could barely see across the parking lot!  Well......you can imagine my car ride home last night!  But....I just took it slow......good 'old Yooper girl that I am!
Well....I'm going to get going on this house cleaning and maybe, do some baking!  Have a great day everyone......

Monday.... Nov. 17th

Well, good morning.....
It's another full work week.....and I'm getting psyched up for a typical school week.  The kids are already talking about their Thanksgiving family plans, and it's still ten days away!  We're going to head to the Twin Cities over the Thanksgiving weekend.......Dom and I will be leaving Friday morning, come sun, sleet, snow. or whatever!!!  Ha!  We'll be there for the weekend, before leaving to come back to Marquette that Sunday.  So I guess........my brain is thinking Thanksgiving too....I'm anxious to see the grandkids!
My weekend was pretty laid back.  I did some housework and laundry.......went out to lunch with some girlfriends........played with Stella and Spencer.........went to a cool bazaar with my friend, Diana........graded papers and MORE papers..........went to mass on Sunday morning.....baked a double batch of peanut butter cookies.......Whew!
Dom had a nice time at the hunting camp with his brother and nephews.  Jake, the youngest son of Ross, got his buck, so everyone helped drag and prepare the deer.  But since there are so few deer up in the Lake Gogebic area, that may be the only buck hanging on the deer pole.
There's just a little dusting of snow on the ground, but we are supposed to get more new snow today and ALL theis week.  I'd better get the shovel ready to go!  LOL
Have a good day, everyone......you are all in my thoughts!

T.G.I.F. ........Nov. 7th

Hey there, everyone......
Well, it was quite the "barn burner" for the work week.  I had parent teacher conferences and it was an exhausting schedule......26 students is a full boat!  But the conferences are done and we don't have them again until the spring quarter...........
We were going to go to the Twin Cities this weekend, but because of the bad weather coming in and other factors, we decided to cancel out!  I'm kinda bummed though, as I wanted to see the kids.....but I'm going to shoot for the Thanksgiving week......we'll work on a plan to make this work!  Meanwhile.......
I had lunch with Ragene and Sandy K. this noon.  It was the first time I've seen & visited with Ragene since her liver/kidney transplant.  She looks absolutely wonderful!  We did a little shopping and looking around in the downtown area.  I picked her up for lunch and drove her home after a couple of hours, as I know she gets tired easily.  She is a walking miracle!
Dom did some last minute raking before the snow comes in tomorrow!  We may not see the green grass until next spring......this is the last day of warm temperatures!  It's supposed to drop at least 20 degrees tomorrow.....Oh boy!  Here we go.........
Well........hugs to all of you.  Have a great weekend!

Yes We Can...........Nov. 5th

Well.....Good Morning!
I am so encouraged to hear that Obama won the presidential election.  Whew!  I must admit that I was getting a little nervous last night when I started watching the election news coverage. But thank goodness, we have a chance to get this country back on track!
Enough said on that.....as I have a really long day at school.....a full day of teaching and then parent teacher conferences until  7:30........think good thoughts for me!
      Have a great day, everyone!

Election Day....Nov. 4th

Well.......it's time to get out and vote.....it's been wonderful weather for everyone to get to the polls.....this election is really getting to be a close race!  I wonder how it's going to turn out?  I did vote after school.....around 6:00.......because I had parent teacher conferences this evening... for a couple of hours!  However, it only took 10 minutes to get in and out of the building to cast my vote!  Only two more days of parent teacher conferences...........then I have Friday off!  Whew!
The weather was unusually warm today.......a record 75 degrees!  Dom  cleaned and refilled the hot tub.....and raked up some more leaves in the front yard!
All for now....nothing else is new on this end...........'thinking about all of you!

Happy Halloween.....a day late!

                                            Happy Halloween............
Well.....I'm sure you all want to see Stella and Spencer......in their Halloween costumes......they had a great time!
I just checked Trina's log......did you see the little elephant and giraffe that she posted on her blog?  What cuties!  I just love photos.......
So here goes....let's check out this clown and bumble bee......Diana brought over home-made carmel apples.....dipped in nuts!  Yummy!
Sorry guys.......but I don't know how to rotate the photos....I thought I had already rotated them on the IPhoto site, but it didn't work....oh well,  I think you'll like the pictures anyway....just turn look at this with your head cocked to one side!!!  LOL
