9/11 Dreary, raining day.....

Yuk....the weather is absolutely awful.........raining and cold......I'm going to concentrate on cleaning closets and housework......another YUK......LOL

Helloooooo,,,,,,retirement!

Dom and I are enjoying retirement....This is Dom's official first week of retirement.....he's been busy remodeling the upper bathroom for us! Today he put in the new tub and shower.......and did the first coat of paint on the walls......

Me???? Well, I was out doing the last picking of the blueberries in the woods and taking the dog for a walk....then I made a fresh blueberry pie AND a delicious blueberry bundt cake........what great weather we are having!

The temps are getting cooler and we have a fire in the fireplace, as I type this.....we're getting ready to watch the Viking football game........go Brett and the Vikings!!!

Happy Anniversary, Katrina and Jon.......

Hello everybody........it's a beautiful summer day and I've been busy around the house.....I just want to take the opportunity to congratulate Trina and Jon on their anniversary.....6 years already.....Wow! Trina and Jon came home for the 4th of July weekend with the two kiddos.....Morgan and Natalie were so much fun to play with at the house and in town on the beach etc. ....it was great to see "the cousins" getting along and interacting with each other! Ann Marie and Dennis are due in sometime tomorrow evening.....on their motorcycles! We hope to visit with them for a day, before they head out to tour the northern part of the U.P. and then back home to Colorado. My sister, Katie, is coming for a visit next Thursday. We always look forward to spending time together :-) Did I mention that the blueberries are wonderful this year? I will get out to pick in the next few days, so that I can have some blueberry pie ready for the company....today I made some blueberry muffins.....Yummy!!!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Sunday morning.......drank a couple cups of coffee and walked the dog......now heading out to the yard to so some planting, etc. Then I'll tackle some closet cleaning, etc. It's a great day here in the U.P. ...... sunny and a little bit of wind out there.........

Dom's officially on vacation today!

Today Dom flies out of Marquette to go fishing and hiking with DJ, who lives in Winter Park, Colorado.........he will be there for a couple of weeks! He treated himself to new backpacking fly rod.......so he's all packed and ready to go.......I'm sending him with a camera, so we'll see if we get pictures of his "big" fish!

Last Day of School Tomorrow........2010

Hey there....the grass is growing with all the rain that we have had in the last couple of days! My garden actually has some green sprouts showing up in the rows.... encouraging :-) I planted some more flowers in the yard tonight.....it's starting to look good. Dom has been working so hard on the grass in the front yard.....those darn snowplows really wreck havoc with the landscape!

Well....it's Dom's very last day "on the job" as a classroom teacher....you can tell that he is having some mixed emotions on this new stage in his life! We'll have a very small party for him tomorrow night...... grilling some brats and hot dogs, along with the "famous" carrot cake for dessert :-)

Time flies....

Well, today Dom has reached a new stage in his teaching career.....he handed in his resignation to the school board and signed his retirement papers! He really wanted to teach one more year, but due to the Michigan bill that was just signed by the governor.......it's as they say......"a no brainer!" So I think the high school will see maybe 20 teachers leaving the teaching field in the high school alone. This will pave the way for the new teachers to get into the system.......I'm sure the administration is scrambling now....!!! Now he will be doing a lot more fishing......stay tuned for more info as it comes available........

Happy 4th birthday, Stella.....I can't believe how fast the kids are growing up! It is the two week birthday span in our family.......Katrina starts it out on April 24th........and my brother, Fred, stops the birthday trail on May 9th......(we won't tell how old he will be on his birthday...LOL)

April 30th.......and it's Morgan's 5th birthday.......Wow! How times flies......I'm in the Twin Cities for the weekend to help him celebrate this big 5 !!! It should be lots of fun.....He's such a handsome and smart little guy....before I know it, he will be all grown up and going off to some college...........just think......five years old and going off to school in the fall! Yikes! Now I'm starting to feel old......LOL.........More later.............

It was quite the weekend......very eventful for the Longhini family: Katrina turned 33 years old on Saturday.......Kim got engaged to Mike that very day.......and we had a family birthday party for Spencer last night! Whew! Time for celebration :-)

Hello.....everyone!

I am back in Marquette.......after traveling to Phoenix and Dever.........it's been a fun-filled spring ......BUT today it was snowing!!! No kidding!!!

Spring Cleaning....

Well.....I'm staying home to get this house clean and bake some cookies! Yesterday I was at the ski hill for a few hours......great skiing! No lift lines all day........Whew! But today, I HAVE to get some housework done.....the dust bunnies are calling!!!!! LOL

Second Day of Spring!

Great ski day!!! We had a great day on the slopes! :-) Sunny and warm....this is probably the last day of skiing in Marquette.......

Here I am at the airport in Denver.....waiting with my sister, Katie.....flying back to Phoenix with her.......Katie is doing very well.....her total knee replacement went according to plan :-) Now we will concentrate on rehab and flexibility motion in the next week or so in Phoenix.....later :-)

It was a great day here in the Longhini household.......Dom and I did some downhill skiing....then I made a pan of lasagna, tossed a salad, and had the family over for supper. Kirsti and Mike came to the house, with the kids and Mike's mom, Cathy. We had a nice supper and then after all went home, Dom and I watched some of the Olympics.......great skiing and skating! Hugs to all of you.....

Ha! I'm still laughing at the weather conditions.......sunny and crisp in the UP of Michigan! Our Yooper groundhogs definitely saw their shadows this week........we actually could use some new snow to blanket the ground! Maybe this weekend......

Last day of January......2010

New snow update.....hardly none! Temperatures......freezing!!!! In fact it's still in the teens, and really, REALLY cold outside. Dom and I did some downhill skiing yesterday, and we froze our butts off! So today we are just staying inside and relaxing!!!! Does anyone ever read this? I keep looking for comments, but maybe nobody checks??? Hhmmmm.......

Sunday night football.......Jan. 24th

We just watched the 2 major football games....Geez....I sure thought that the Vikings had a good chance to win the championship game, but too many screw ups!!! Oh well....it's just a game! I did bake cookies and a pie.....oh, and I also made some more jam.......it's been cold and rainy here! It's the January thaw!!!

Thursday......Jan. 14th.....and winter goes on......

It's actually warmer outside today....in fact, 30 degrees ABOVE zero! I'm going to take the dog for a quick walk and then go in to town to get my hair trimmed. Tomorrow it's a "girl trip" downstate....we're heading to Detroit......Kirsti, Barb, Terry, and me! We're going to Erica's baby shower........and having some "girl time"........the boys are staying home to take card of household responsibilities!!!! Later......

Winter Fun....

Well.....if we have a this SNOW, a person has to have fun in it! Right? Thus, I have been skiing (downhill and cross-country) and skating......plus, trying to get to the gym! My ultimate goal is to get in better shape......and eat healthier!

I just got back from the movie theater.....Sandy, Terry and I just saw "Leap Year" and it was great! What a good love story.....a "must see" in the girlfiend network! If you haven't seen it yet, do so......it will bring a smile to your face.

Good Morning, everyone.....

Time sure does fly.....and here we are in another year! I wanted to send along some memorable pictures to all of you who read my blog. It's very difficult to choose which photos to pass along on this blog, as there are so many!! :-)

One of the funniest photos is of Spencer, who encountered his first REAL stuffed animal....here it is.....Katrina and I laughed so hard on this scenario.

The grandkids had a great time playing together, both outside in the snow and inside with toys, etc. We even did some ice skating and sledding with all the newly fallen snow!

Dom is back to work and teaching high school English is going well this year. He is thinking he will retire in next couple of years??!!! We'll see what happens..........

I am going to go cross-country skiing today and then to the movies with some friends. I'll try to be better on keeping up on my blog for those of you who read it :-)
